The Philadelphia Hockey Club’s Squirt Major (2013 birth year) won the Atlantic Youth Hockey League’s (AYHL) Championship defeating the Long Island Royals 2 - 1.
The 10U Squirt Major (’13 birth year) was the President’s Cup champion posting a 30-1-1-0 record for 61 points. Their first game of the tournament they defeated the Royals 3 – 2. In their second game, they blanked the Valley Forge Minutemen 3 – 0 with goalie Max Gowdy turning aside the seven shots he faced.
They lost to the Philadelphia Little Flyers 3 – 2 in their third game but since the Royals and PHC had the better playoff records, they met again in the finals with PHC winning behind Mike Longo and Kellan McDonough’s goals. Gowdy stopped 17 of 18 shots.
Gowdy was named the tournament’s 10U Major Great American goalie while Longo was named the tournament’s 10U Major Great American Forward.
