The Philadelphia Hockey Club, proud members of the Eastern Hockey League (EHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Matt Donegan has committed to play NCAA Division III Ice Hockey for the Western Connecticut State University Wolves, who will play in the Little East Conference (LEC) beginning with the upcoming 2025-26 season.

Donegan played in 90 games in his two-and-a-half seasons with PHC earning 25 total points (4 goals and 21 assists). This year the Medford, NJ native had 24 total points (3 goals and 21 assists) in 38 games played.

"I'd like to thank my parents for everything they have done for me and the sacrifices they have made for me to play hockey all these years” said Donegan. “I'd like to thank Coach Friedman for the opportunity to play college hockey. All the coaches and trainers throughout my years at Hollydell have helped me grow as a person and player and I can't thank them enough. I would like to thank Coach Joe Matiskiel for helping me this past year on and off the ice and always keeping it light on the bench.  Lastly, I would like to thank Coach Barthlomay. It's been a long time together, and it's been the best years of my life. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Best coach in the business” added Donegan.

“We are extremely proud and excited for Matt Donegan to commit to Western Connecticut” stated PHC Head Coach and General Manager Adam Bartholomay. “Matt is another one who has been a part of the Hollydell family and a part of PHC since its second season. I could not be prouder of Matt and am looking forward to following his collegiate career” concluded Bartholomay.

Western Connecticut State University, located in Danbury, CT, will begin their inaugural season in the fall of 2025.
